Ask your accommodation directly before booking. Do not count on overnight access until the property confirms your arrival arrangements in writing.
- Give your arrival date and estimated arrival time at the property in Iraqi local time, alongside your flight landing time.
- Clarify the booking night. For a 3am arrival on 12 November, ask whether to reserve the night of 11 November and have the room held, or whether another arrangement is possible. Ask about any charge and how to avoid being treated as a no-show.
- Ask who will let you in, how to collect the key and how to notify the property if your flight is delayed. Keep the confirmation.
Late arrival for a reserved night is different from early check-in before your booked stay. For example, Erbil Rotana publishes check-in from 2pm. That does not establish permission to enter at 3am or an overnight policy for other properties.
For hotels, confirm reception arrangements. For hostels, confirm access to your dormitory bed or private room. For guesthouses, agree key handover and reception hours. With children, confirm that the family room and requested beds will be ready. If staying with relatives, agree your arrival with your hosts.
