You cannot cancel a submitted Iraq visa application through the portal to receive a refund. Official government visa fees are non-refundable once an application is submitted, even if your travel plans change, your application is delayed, or your visa is refused.
Cancellation rules and next steps
- No portal cancellation option. The official Iraqi Electronic Visa Portal has no self-service cancellation or withdrawal button once payment is complete. The Directorate of Residency Affairs begins processing immediately after fee collection.
- If travel plans change. If you decide not to travel, you do not need to withdraw the application. An approved tourist visa expires automatically after its validity period without penalty if left unused.
- If you made errors on your form. If you submitted incorrect passport details and must withdraw the application, contact the Directorate of Residency Affairs at +964 772 111 1434 or submit an inquiry through the portal contact form. To submit a corrected application, you must start a new application and pay the fee again.
- Withdrawing consular applications. If you applied through the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington or the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in London, contact the consular section directly to retrieve your passport. Consular processing fees remain non-refundable.
