Check your airline, the airport's official information and government travel advice together. Do not treat an airport reopening announcement as confirmation that your flight will operate.
- Contact your airline or travel company before travelling to the airport. Ask about your specific flight and any onward connection. The FCDO air travel advice warns that flight schedules may change without notice.
- Check official updates for your actual airport. For Erbil in the Kurdistan Region, the Erbil International Airport website provides an arrivals and departures search and a News and Notices section. Do not use Erbil information to infer conditions at Baghdad or another federal Iraqi airport.
- Read your government's latest travel advisory and subscribe to its alerts where available. The FCDO Iraq advisory warns of possible flight cancellations and periodic airspace closures. It advises following local authorities and monitoring news for airport and airspace updates, as closures can happen at short notice.
This is a checking procedure, not confirmation that any airport or airspace is currently open, or that travel is safe. Recheck before leaving for the airport.
