Yes. Infants and newborn babies must have their own separate visa to enter Iraq. Iraqi immigration rules provide no age exemptions, and infants cannot enter under a parent's visa or passport.
-
Individual passport required. Every infant must hold an individual valid passport. Passports must remain valid for at least six months from the arrival date and have at least one blank page. Children cannot travel on a parent's passport. Airlines deny boarding to any infant without an individual travel document.
-
Separate application and fee. Parents must complete an individual visa application for each infant. When applying through the official Iraqi Electronic Visa Portal, upload the infant's passport information and digital photograph with a white background, then pay the required visa fee. For paper applications through an Iraqi Embassy, submit a separate form, photos, and passport for the infant.
-
Destination jurisdiction and regional rules. Federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region manage separate immigration procedures. An electronic visa for Federal Iraq covers entry through federal airports such as Baghdad, Basra, and Najaf. Travel restricted to the Kurdistan Region requires a separate entry permit from the regional government. A Kurdistan visa does not allow travel into Federal Iraq.
-
Citizenship and Iraqi heritage. Visa requirements follow the infant's documented passport nationality. A foreign birth certificate or foreign residence permit does not grant visa exemptions. Under Iraqi law, a child born to an Iraqi parent is an Iraqi citizen. Infants of Iraqi descent who travel on foreign passports must provide proof of parental Iraqi identity to receive consular fee exemptions, or travel on official Iraqi travel documents.
