If you renew your passport after your Iraqi visa is issued, you cannot travel using that visa. An Iraqi visa is tied to your specific passport number. Airlines deny boarding and border officers refuse entry when the passport number on your visa does not match your physical passport. You cannot transfer an approved electronic visa to a new passport, and you cannot travel by presenting both your old and new passports together. You must apply for a new visa with your new passport details.
Edits before submission
If you renew your passport before you submit your visa application, enter the new passport number and expiry date in the online form. Upload a clear scan of the new passport photo page. Your passport must have at least six months of remaining validity from your arrival date, as noted by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. The official Iraqi Electronic Visa Portal locks your application after payment, so verify all details before submitting.
Changes during processing
You cannot edit form fields on the portal while immigration officers review your application. If you receive a new passport while your application is pending, the system cannot automatically replace your passport details. If officers mark your file as Additional Information Required, you can upload updated documents through the portal. You can also contact the Directorate of Residency Affairs by phone at +964 772 111 1434 or submit an inquiry through the portal contact form. For paper applications, contact the Iraqi embassy handling your file. If the visa issues under your old passport number, that visa cannot be used with your new passport.
