Yes, but confirm a daytime meal before you go out. Do not assume a restaurant's normal hours apply during Ramadan. UK government advice notes that hotels and restaurants serving food during fasting hours may use screens to separate diners from fasting guests.
Ask your hotel whether it serves breakfast or lunch during Ramadan, where you can eat privately, and whether it can arrange a packed meal. These are suggestions, not guaranteed services. Keep some food and water at your accommodation. Avoid eating publicly out of respect for people fasting. UK advice specifically says not to drink, smoke or chew gum in public during daylight, including in your car.
Local practice varies. In a February 2026 Shafaq News interview, a restaurant owner in Sulaymaniyah described daytime service behind curtains and normal evening service after iftar, the sunset meal. This does not establish opening hours across Kurdistan, Baghdad or southern Iraq. Confirm locally rather than assuming one regional rule.
If available, ask about falafel, fried chickpea balls, or dolma, grape leaves filled with vegetables, rice and sometimes meat. Availability and recipes vary. Tell the kitchen about allergies and ask about ingredients and shared equipment. Neither dish is guaranteed allergy-safe.
