The Iraqi Marshlands, also known as the Mesopotamian Marshes, are located in southern Iraq in the heart of Mesopotamia where the Tigris and Euphrates rivers meet. The main gateway to the region is the city of Nasiriyah, which can be reached from Baghdad via shared taxi (approximately 25,000 Iraqi dinars, 4-5 hours) or private car (average 140,000 dinars). From Nasiriyah, visitors can take shared taxis (about 5,000 dinars) or private cars to the Chibayish dock, where they transfer to traditional mashoof boats to sail through water channels to floating villages. Alternatively, visitors can access the marshes from Basra through local tour operators. For more: Iraqi Marshlands - Garden of Eden
