Under federal customs regulations enforced since March 2023, incoming passengers cannot import alcoholic beverages through federal airports such as Baghdad or Basra, and prior personal duty-free allowances were ended. However, arriving travelers landing at Erbil or Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan Region remain under KRG customs where personal allowances apply, though these drinks cannot be transported south into Federal Iraq.
