The Central Marshes are located in southern Iraq, between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, spanning across Dhi Qar, Maysan, and Basra governorates. They are part of the "Ahwar of Southern Iraq" World Heritage property and represent the heart of the marshland ecosystem and one of the region's largest wetlands. They feature water, reeds, and living Marsh Arab culture. The marshes are a UNESCO World Heritage Site listed for their cultural and natural importance, and a Ramsar Wetland designated as a wetland of international importance. They provide critical habitat for biodiversity and migratory birds in an extremely arid environment and are home to traditional Marsh Arab (Ma'dan) culture.\n\nFor more: Central Marshes (https://visit-iraq.com/en/places/central-marshes-heart-of-the-marshland-ecosystem)
