Seating inside a mudhif follows an established social hierarchy. The local sheikh and honored guests sit at the far end opposite the entrance, known as the sadr al-mudhif, while newer arrivals and younger attendees sit closer to the doorway (bab al-mudhif). Visitors should wait for their host or guide to direct them to an appropriate cushion rather than choosing a seat independently, and sit cross-legged or with legs tucked to avoid pointing shoe soles or bare feet at others.
