Visitors can combine the fortress with Al-Aqaiser Church, a ruined mudbrick 5th- or 6th-century Eastern Christian complex about 15 kilometers northwest near Ayn al-Tamr. Nearby destinations also include the Ayn al-Tamr Oasis with date palm groves and freshwater sulfur springs, the Tar Caves containing prehistoric rock chambers and Hellenistic burial tombs roughly 30 kilometers toward Karbala, and the broad saline waters of Lake Razzaza.
